Salzburg - Medvescak 4:3 OT (Tied at 1)

After an exciting game 1 in Zagreb, a thrilling match-up took place in Eisarena Salzburg. The Bulls started strong and opened the scoring after just five minutes. The scorer was Mark Cullen. Medvescak decided not to give up and they managed to equalize in the 12th minute through a young star Gal Koren. Medvescak then took the momentum, but couldn't score the lead. In the second period Salzburg put a lot of pressure on the Croats and in the 25th minute they were on top again, Daniel Richmond scored for the home team. Then a powerplay came for Medvescak and after just one minute David Brine brings the  equalizer. Later on, Daniel Welser crashed with Medvescak's goalie Robert Kristan who had to be replaced by Michael Ouzas between the pipes. The third period was the reprisal of the first two, Salzburg took another lead early on, but Andy Sertich makes it even for the third time that evening. In the overtime period, Andy Sertich had a huge one-on-one opportunity, though he was denied by Bruckler. And then David Brine brings down Thomas Raffl for a penalty shot. Raffl scores to tie the series at 1.

Znojmo - Vienna 1:3 (Vienna leads 2-0)

Znojmo started strong in the beginning. They wanted to strike back in front of  their fans. It was like this for the first five minutes when their defense forgot about Tony Romano who tipped in a shot from Francois Fortier to give the visitors the lead. The Eagles didn't surrender and kept on the pressure which finally paid off in the 13th minute, Jan Lattner fires one up from the blue line to equalize. And that was the end of the first period. Znojmo came out fighting in the second, Havlik had a huge opportunity when they played a tic-tac-toe in front of Zaba who wasn't confused by their play. Then the Czechs protested hard after Pinter cheked their player with his elbow really hard, but the ref said to play on and Rotter scores on a breakaway. Fraser closes the game on a breakaway in the last minute of the second. The last 20 minutes were scoreless and the Capitals go back to Vienna with a comfortable lead.

Graz - KAC 5:1 (Tied at 1)

After a hardly deserved win in Klagenfurt, the Red Jackets went to Graz in hope to increase the lead. And they couldn't even imagine a better start. After only 40 seconds they found themselves in the lead. Mario Scalzo made a mistake of which David Schuller took advantage to give the visitors a very early lead. The home team stroke back and Olivier Labelle was the man to equalize after the momentum went their way. The game was open then and both teams had their chances. In the 17th minute, Labelle strikes again and 99ers take the lead after 1st. At the beginning of the 2nd period Olivier Latendresse scored twice to give his team a comfortable lead. The second one came from a perfect diagonal pass from Greg Day while Latendresse got off the KAC defenseman to put it in the net. KAC coach changed goalies, Swette came to replace Chiodo, but that didn't help much. After a solo effort, Daoust scored for 5:1.

Villach - Linz 2:3 (Tied at 1)

Summarized in one word: "Comeback"! That is what it looked like in Villach. 11 seconds into the game Danny Irmen gives the reigning champions a 1-0 lead. Soon after, Derek Ryan diagonally passes to John Hughes who scores on a one timer to tie the game. After that the goalies were on fire so it remained scoreless to the end of the 1st period. Derek Ryan once again with a smooth pass to Hughes to give Villach a 2-1 lead in the 2nd. In the 3rd period the Comeback began. In the first minute Linz ties through Gregor Baumgartner. Villach missed their chances in the third and there came the charge. In the last minutes Brett Engelhardt ties the series with a goal.
