After a weak effort against Sweden the Czechs improve and earn a some what surprising victory against Finland.
Two late goals in the first period laid ground for a Czech victory against the Finns in the Sports Palace in Ufa. Finland dominated the first period but the Czechs played more controlled than against Sweden and when they managed to score on both of their two scoring chances in the first period they were up 2-0.
Tomas Hyka opened the scoring after 14 minutes when he skated in on goal in scored with a hard shot. Just over two minutes later when Marek Hrbas deflected a shot on the power play.
Finland reduced the lead when Teuvo Teravainen scored with a weak shot that somehow found it's way in. The Czechs was as usual good at playing with a lead and played very controlled and defensively and was the some what better team in the period.
In the third the Czechs didn't have much offensively and the Finns got some chances, especially after a double minor penalty on Beran but the Czechs did very well to defend and with four seconds left of the game Dmitrij Jaskin (who was awarded best player of the Czech team) made it 3-1 on the open net.
Petteri Lundbohm was given the best player award for Finland.
