A total of 8 teams competed from Dec. 13-15 in two different tournaments that were played in France and Romania.

EIHC France

Best team of the tournament was Denmark which won all its three games but twice needed overtime to do so. In the first match Denmark defeated Latvia (3-2 OT) before they went on to beat Slovenia (2-1 OT) and hosts France (3-1). They were led by Nicklas Jensen with 4 points (3+1).

The second place went to the home team France that had easy high-scoring wins against Slovenia (6-1) and Latvia (7-4) before the rather surprising loss against Denmark. It's not so surprising that three French players share the honour as top scorers with five points each - brothers Sacha and Yorrick Treille along with Laurent Meunier.

Latvia's only win came in their last match against Slovenia (4-3 OT) but it was enough to earn them the third spot.

Despite having Stanley Cup winner Anze Kopitar on their roster, Slovenia wasn't able to make a difference. With only two points they finnished last. Kopitar himself earned four assists during the three-game tournament.

EIHC Romania

Romania couldn't use its home advantage for surprises. Instead the outsiders stayed chanceless in all their three matches against Poland (2-7), Ukraine (0-3) and Kazakhstan (1-7). The other three teams who are more or less at the same level made it an exciting tournament nevertheless. Kazakhstan though was out early in the race for the first spot after a 3-2 after overtime against Poland and a 1-2 against Ukraine. Poland themselves lost their hopes for the title when they won against Ukraine 3-2 but only in overtime so that Ukraine finnished one point ahead of them.

Kazakh forward Konstantin Savenkov was the best goal scorer of the tournament with three strikes. He also gave one assist.
