Coventry Blaze V Edinburgh Capitals 5:2
Coventry sealed their fourth straight home win against the last place Edinburgh Capitals by firing over three times as many shots on net in a 5:2 victory.
It took Coventry until the 12th minute to open the scoring, Steven Chalmers grabbing his first goal of the year, and the lead was doubled by Dustin Cameron four minutes later to give the Blaze a 2:0 lead at the end of 20 minutes.
Edinburgh got off to a good start in the second, Marcis Zembergs pulled a goal back at 21.49, and the game was levelled at 35.00 through Curtis Leinweber.
However, 28 seconds later Benn Olson grabbed his second of the season to give Coventry the lead heading into the final period.
Edinburgh did well to keep themselves in the game but eventually Jerramie Domish grabbed his first of the season at 53.55 and Russell Cowley sealed the victory with his first goal in his first game back from injury.
Thursday 29 November
Hull Stingrays V Braehead Clan 2:7
Despite only registering one more shot than Hull, Braehead dominated in their visit to the Hull Arena to pick up a much needed win to give the team a boost.
Braehead got off to a dream start as NHLer Drew Miller grabbed a quick goal at 13 seconds and the Clan saw their lead doubled as Ash Goldie beat goalie Ben Bowns at 5.01
Hull did manage to put themselves back into the game before the end of the period with two goals from Jereme Tendler for his 17th and 18th of the year, one at 14.21 and the second at 17.27 to take the game into the break with the scores level.
From their on out it was all Braehead.
Rob Farmer put the visitors in the lead again at 23.33, and Drew Miller grabbed his second of the night on the powerplay at 36.50 to give Braehead a two goal lead.
Miller completed his hat-trick at 42.09 to make it 5:2 with plenty of time left in the third period.
Rob Farmer and Ash Goldie both got their second goals of the game with time winding down to give Braehead a 7:2 win.
Friday 30 November
Belfast Giants V Nottingham Panthers 2:3 (Shootout)
Belfast picked up a point despite coming back from 2:0 down as Nottingham sealed the game in a shootout.
The Panthers put up 10 more shots than the Giants and it showed early on, David Ling opened the scoring at 9.18 on the powerplay as Darryl Lloyd was called for hooking.
NHLer Anthony Stewart of the Carolina Hurricanes grabbed his sixth EIHL goal, and the Panthers second powerplay goal at 16.33, this time as Andrew Fournier sat for 2 on an interference call.
Belfast outshot the Panthers 11 to 10 in the second period and managed to convert on chance on the powerplay.
Craig Peacock managed to pull one back late in the second as Matt Myers was called for tripping.
Greg Stewart left it nearly as late as possible to tie the game up in the final period, with 30 seconds to go he found the net unassisted to force what would be a goalless overtime period.
Eric Werner converted for the Panthers only to be matched by Jeff Mason, but as Craig Peacock failed to score the Giants second shot, successful conversions from David Ling and Matt Francis secured the 2 points for the Nottingham Panthers who are now getting even closer to the league leading Belfast Giants.
Saturday 1 December
Braehead Clan V Hull Stingrays 4:3
This was the third meeting between the two sides in a week, and with both teams picking up a win each, it was Braehead who took 4 of the 6 points available in their encounters with a much closer win than the last meeting.
Braehead picked up the only goal of the first period through Ash Goldie for his 13th of the year.
The Clan doubled their lead through Jade Galbraith at 27.48, but two goals from Hull through Janis Ozolins and Jason Silverthorn took the game into the final 20 minutes of play with the scores tied.
Ash Goldie grabbed his 14th of the season on the powerplay with only 53 seconds gone in the third period, only for the scores to be leveled by Jereme Tendler 6 minutes later.
Ultimately it would be Braehead who took the 2 points, as Martin Ondrej and Jason Silverthorn both gave up penalties, Drew Miller converted the 5 on 3 chance with 35 seconds to go to give Braehead the win.
Dundee Stars V Coventry Blaze 3:4 (Shootout)
The last time these two sides met was last week, Coventry took the win their in a 6:0 hammering of the Stars, but it would take more than overtime to separate these two sides in this weeks meeting.
Dundee somehow managed to come out of the first period with the only goal, despite being out shot 13 to 4.
Tim Kraus picked up the goal at 11.03.
The Stars doubled the lead through AJ MacLean at 8.48 as Dustin Cameron sat in the box after being called for slashing.
Coventry pulled one back through Shea Guthrie at 14.27 to end the period with just a goal separating the two.
Dundee got off to a great start in the third, AJ MacLean picked up his second of the night at 44.03, but Shea Guthrie responded with his second of the night with the Blaze a man short.
Ultimately the scores were leveled as the Leeb brothers set up Mike Schutte for another shorthanded goal to tie the game.
A goalless overtime period meant that goals from Shea Guthrie, Brad Leeb and Matt Beleskey would seal the two points for Coventry.
Sheffield Steelers V Cardiff Devils 2:3
Cardiff were closer to a full line up for the first time in over a month as Max Birbraer was back after his suspension in a come from behind victory against the Sheffield Steelers.
The Steelers got on the board first through EIHL points leader Ashley Tait, for his ninth of the year at 6.32, and the lead was quickly doubled by Drew Fata on the powerplay at 10.22.
Before the period was over Max Birbraer grabbed his 10th of the year in his first game back to pull one back for the Devils going into what would be a goalless second period.
Mac Faulkner continued his goal scoring form as he levelled the game at 44.59, and then with time running out, Faulkner picked up his 22nd goal of the year to win the game and move the Devils up into third place after Saturday night.
Sunday 2 December
Coventry Blaze V Braehead Clan 1:5
Coventry continued their tradition of out shooting their opponents as they registered 48 shots against Garrett Zemlak in the Braehead net in a 5:1 victory.
A goalless first period lead to Gerome Giudice opening the scoring 50 seconds into the second on the powerplay.
Braehead responded with a powerplay goal of their own, 2 seconds into a Shea Guthrie tripping call, Jade Galbraith netted the only Brahead goal of the night at 24.03.
Russell Cowley found the net for the second time this weekend after coming back from injury to give the Blaze a 2:1 lead into the third period.
Brad Leeb extended the Blaze lead with a strike 23 seconds into the final period, and his brother Greg grabbed the Blaze fourth at 7.07
The final goal of the game came from Russell Cowley at 12.20 to give the Coventry Blaze another convincing win.
Cardiff Devils V Sheffield Steelers 7:6 (Shootout)
The Sheffield Steelers traveled to Cardiff for a Challenge Cup game in what would turn out to be a high scoring afair, much different to a 3:2 win by Cardiff over the Steelers the night before.
Sheffield found the net first, Jeff Legue converting on the powerplay at 6.11, but Cardiff responded seven minutes later with a powerplay goal of their own through Ben Davies to bring the first period to a close with the scores tied.
As goalie John DeCaro was called for a tripping call, Shawn Limpright managed to grab a shorthanded goal to give Sheffield the lead, but again the Devils leveled the game. Devils Captain Stuart MacRae converted another powerplay effort to tie the game at 28.25.
Drew Fata then put Sheffield ahead on a deflected shot past Devils backup goalie Joe Myers, but the Devils were able to respond again.
Stuart MacRae netted his second of the game at 17.40 and before the period was out, Tyson Marsh fired a shot from the blueline into the net to give the Devils at 5:4 lead going into the final period.
Cardiff extended their lead through Phil Hill as he deked past John DeCaro for a two goal lead at 44.06, but the Steelers caught up.
Jason Hewitt found the net from centre ice less 15 seconds later to bring the game back to within one, and Shawn Limpright levelled the game just under 10 minutes later.
Almost immediately after, Colin Shields put the Steelers ahead again, but Stuart MacRae finished his hat trick in style, following up his rebound to level the game at 6 with 1.01 remaining in the game.
A goalless overtime period lead to a shootout, and in sudden death Chris Blight sealed the win for the homeside.
Edinburgh Capitals V Hull Stingrays 6:2
Hull traveled north to play the Edinburgh Capitals in what would be a surprising result.
Edinburgh found themselves ahead early as Curtis Leinweber grabbed his second of the year on the powerplay at 4.48 but Hull responded quickly. Dominic Osman beat goalie Tomas Hiadlovsky to level the game at 6.11 and the first period would end at 1:1.
Coming out for the second, Curtis Leinweber grabbed his second powerplay goal of the night at 24.20 to give the Capitals the lead, and four minutes later he set Richard Hartmann for the Capitals third powerplay goal to give them a two goal advantage.
Hull did manage to pull one back through Martin Ondrej at 33.18, but before the period was out, Marcis Zembergs extended the Capitals lead at 37.45 to end the period at 4:2.
Curtis Leinweber grabbed his fourth point of the night, assisting on Edinburgh's fourth powerplay goal of the night, scored by Richard Hartmann at 12.20, and the pair both added an extra point each as they assisted the final goal scored by Rene Jarolin to give Edinburgh a 6:2 victory.
Dundee Stars V Nottingham Panthers 1:5
Nottingham ended their weekend with a trip to Scotland to face the Dundee Stars, who until recently had a very impressive home form but they were heavily out shot 52 to 17 in a tough loss.
The first goal of the game, and only goal for the Stars came early in the Second period as Sami Ryhanen scored his 15th goal of the year at 20.45, but from then on it was all Panthers.
Bruce Graham opened the scoring for Nottingham with a man down to tie the game, and Robert Lachowicz gave the Panthers the lead at 33.51 to help the Panthers on their way to victory.
Pat Galivan extended the lead at 43.05, quickly followed by David Clarke at 6.50, and to close the game out David Ling scored his 12th of the year at 58.13 to seal a 5:1 victory.
