Lockout Players at 2012 Spengler Cup

29 Nov 2012 | Andreas Reiner

According to the organisers of the Spengler Cup in Davos, Team Canada is planning to play with the locked out players currently engaged in the Swiss National League A.

This includes Jason Spezza, Jon Tavares, Tyler Seguin, Michael de Zotto, Patrice Bergeron, Logan Couture and Jared Spurgeon. It's unclear at this point if Brooks Laich (just recovered) and Tyler Ennis will join Team Canada.

It's also expected that Canadian players from the Austrian League will play for Maple Leaf Nation.

Furthermore, Freddy Pargätzi, president of the Organising Committee of the Spengler Cup would like to see a second North American Team playing in the 2013 edition.

The last time the Spengler Cup saw an additional Team from across the Atlantic was in 1996 when the Rochester Americans were invited.
