Sharks back in business

All 14 DEL teams competed on Friday. The top teams from Berlin and Mannheim stumbled over their opponents.
After four consecutive losses the Kölner Haie have found back into the winning track by defeating the league leaders Adler Mannheim away with 5-2, taking revenge for the loss of the top position in German ice hockey. Chris Minard and Philip Gogulla earned a 2-1 lead for the guests after the first 20 minutes - Doug Janik had scored the equalizer for the hosts between. In the middle period Felix Schütz and Daniel Tjärnqvist even made it 4-1 for the Sharks from Cologne before Matthias Plachta brought hope back to the home side. Still in the second period Nathan Robinson restored the three goal lead for the away team that was also the final score. With this win Cologne has cut the distance to Mannheim to just two points with one game less played by the Sharks.
The Hamburg Freezers have switched positions with Eisbären Berlin after beating them in the Anschutz derby (AEG is the owner of both franchises). The guests from the capital had the better start after scoring in power play just two seconds before the first intermission. At the end of period number two it was Jerome Flaake who scored the equalizer for the Northern Germans before Nicolas Krämmer and Garrett Festerling made perfect the deserved home win in the last 20 minutes.
Ingolstadt couldn't use the setback by Berlin and lost themselves after overtime at home in the Bavarian derby against the Augsburger Panther. Sean O'Connor and Derek Hahn had earned the hosts an at this point deserved two-goal lead before Augsburg fought back in person of Mario Valery-Trabucco and Peter Flache. In the 4th minute of overtime Ryan Thang even won the extra point for the Panthers who now have the same amount of points as the fourth in the table Eisbären Berlin.
The Straubing Tigers stay among the top 6 of the DEL table but only due to the better goal difference as they lost at home in another Bavarian derby against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. Casey Borer and Ryan Bayda pathed the way for the guest win while Carsen Germyn could only cut the lead to the half in the third period but more wasn't in for the hosts.
Third win in a row for the Krefelder Pinguine who won in Iserlohn. Robert Hock and Mike York had had turned around the first-period Krefeld lead through Herberts Vasilijevs but a double within less than a minute at the end of the third period with goals by Francois Methot and Boris Blank guaranteed a better end for Krefeld. With 14 seconds left in regulation Mark Voakes decided the match with an empty netter for Krefeld.
The Hannover Scorpions continue their good home series with now 5 wins in the last 6 matches on their own ice. Against the last in the table, Düsseldorfer EG, they earned a solid thee-goal lead in the first half our through Ivan Ciernik, Stephan Wilhelm and David Sulkovsky. Düsseldorf only was able to score the consolidation goal through Bernhard Ebner at 39:50.
Second consecutive shutout at home for EHC Red Bull München goalie Jochen Reimer. Against the second-last Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg the Bavarians had problems for a long time despite scoring their first goal already at 12:10 through Paul Stastny. A double by Martin Buchwieser - the second one into the empty net - at the end of the third period decided the game in favour of München that now has six points more than their direct neighbours in the table from Wolfsburg.
