Both Avangard and CSKA defeated their opponents today on home ice
For Avangard Omsk it was a perfect start with a 3-0 lead after the first period in which they were clearly dominating. Especially Tomas Zaborsky could convince with two goals and an assist in the third goal, scored by Alexander Popov. In the following time the hosts invested less and Yugra cut the lead to just one until 52:05 through Rinat Ibragimov and Ivan Lekomtsev. But the Zaborsky show was not over yet and the Slovak who is only in his KHL rookie season added another two - the 5-2 into the empty net - for a solid home win. With this success Avangard is four points ahead of second-placed Sibir Novosibirsk in Chernyshyov Division.
CSKA Moscow gained their 6th win in the last 7 matches by beating Sibir Novosibirsk with the result of 4-2. NHL lockout stars Mikhail Grabovsky and Pavel Datsyuk twice earned a lead for the Capitals in the first 40 minutes while Maxim Krivonozhkin had tied the match for the guests at the end of the first period. In the last period Alexander Radulov made the home win perfect with a double - his second goal was scored into the empty net. At 42:32 Jonas Enlund had cut the lead in power play but Sibir couldn't come closer anymore. Now CSKA is again leader in Tarasov Division due to the better goal balance towards Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
