Playoff semifinals

ZSC Lions - EV Zug 2:1

After having won the series opener by a large margin, the ZSC Lions gave another surprise against regular season champions EV Zug. The guests were very motivated and wanted to proof they are able to come back in this series but probably they were over motivated as they received some stupid penalties which led to a 5 on 3 power play Domenico Pittis used to get Zürich on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. Still the goal was  a bit unlucky for the guests as the puck hit the crossbar and then it was deflected from the guest goalie's back into the net. After that it took Zug a lot of time to find into the game but in the 35th it was Sven Lindemann who found himself alone in front of the net after a nice pass from the left wing and only had to put the puck over the goal line. In an even game the ZSC Lions regained their lead in the 49th minute when Luca Cunti made a hard pass from the left wing which was deflected into the net by Mark Bastl. This goal was also the decisive one in this match.

ZSC Lions lead 2-0 in the series

SC Bern - Fribourg-Gottéron 3:2 SO

Bern had a perfect start at their home opener of this series and Pascal Berger already scored in the 7th minute for them. In the 27th Christian Dubé was left alone in a Fribourg power play and his hard slapshot found its way into the net for the equalizer. Six minutes later Fribourg defender Romain Loeffel tried it with a shot from a very sharp angle directly from the boards of the left wing and after the puck was deflected by a skate it went into the net. Bern needed a lot of time to get back into the match but in ther 48th Beat Gerber with a blue line shot into the top left corner tied the result again. After 20 minutes of overtime found no winner, the shootout had to find a winner and there Bern was the luckier side by winning 2 to 1 and extending their lead in the series.

SC Bern leads 2-0 in the series

Playout final

HC Ambrì-Piotta - Genève-Servette HC 2:3 OT

After exactly ten minutes Czech player Petr Vampola used a rebound to open the score for Servette in a 5 on 3 power play. In the second the hosts started more motivated than their opponents and so future Servette player Julian Walker tied the match from a short distance with a hard shot into the right corner after only 81 seconds had been played. Three minutes later Roman Schlagenhauf deflected a blue line shot from Casserini into the net and turned the match around. The guests needed half an hour to find the reaction and Daniel Rubin tied the match in the 55th. The goal was more than controversial as an Ambri player was hit by the puck and lay on the ice but Genève just continued to play. Only 12 seconds before the end of the 20 minutes of overtime Morris Trachsler deflected a blue line shot from Goran Bezina with his body into the net and decided the game after a lot of hard work for both sides.

Genève leads 2-0 in the series
