Wins for Frölunda and Färjestad when the fifth games of the Elitserien quarter finals were completed.
Brynäs - Frölunda 1-2 (Series 3-2)After winning 5-0 on away ice in game four Brynäs had a great chance of qualifying for the semi finals today. But Frölunda won 2-1 and held the quarter final series alive. Henrik Tömmernes made it 0-1 in the first period.
Mika Pyörälä added the second goal only 17 seconds into to the second period with perfect aimed shot. Niklas Andersén made it 1-2 halfway through the third period but despite some good chances they never managed to tie the game.
HV71 - Färjestad 3-5 (Series: 2-3)Goals from Kamil Piros and Daniel Grillfors gave HV71 a 2-0 lead early in the second period but Färjestad came back and tied the game with goals by Patrik Lundh and Marius Holtet.
What perhaps decided the game was a situation in the last seconds of the second period. An ugly crosschecking from Jesse Joensuu to the face of Sanny Lindström gave the Finn a 5 + game penalty. Hannes Hyvönen took advantage of it to give Färjestad the lead and another penalty later Magnus Nygren made it 2-4.
Marius Holtet secured the win with his second goal, scoring on the empty net before Noah Welch made it 3-5 in the last seconds of the game.
