Game recap

Three goals in the final 15 minutes of the game saw Coventry beat Cardiff at the Skydome for the third successive game.

Cardiff started backup netminder Tom Murdy and rested forward Charles Linglet with one eye on their Champions Hockey League visit to Frölunda next week, and the goalie held firm through two periods to keep the Blaze at bay.

The Devils went ahead after 23 minutes, Joey Martin gloving the puck down in the slot and going high into the net. Murdy’s shutout was broken 5:04 into period three as Janne Laakkonen went through 1-on-0 and pulled a great move to finish through the five-hole.

With 41 seconds remaining the puck broke kindly to Charles Corcoran to fire into a gaping goal to put the Blaze ahead, with Justin Hamonic finishing things off into the empty net with 23 seconds left.
