Game recap

Coventry Blaze have it all to do in Challenge Cup Group C after Guildford came from behind to win on home ice.

The hosts, who played in Belfast less than 24 hours earlier, were ahead inside eight minutes – John Dunbar’s pass put home by Owen Griffiths.

While the Flames led after 20 minutes, period two had a lot more to be positive about for the Blaze. Charles Corcoran tied the game with 3:17 played, before Justin Hamonic put the visitors ahead 31:18 into the game. A good period for the visitors was however undone 30 seconds before the buzzer, a 2-on-1 break for the Flames allowing Calle Ackered to set up Cam Braes for the finish to tie things up.

5:30 into the final period, Griffiths found the net again after some patient build-up play from the Flames eventually saw him with the puck in the slot, and pull a nice move before slotting past Jamie Phillips. Brett Ferguson scored into the empty net late on to round off the win.
