Red Bulls Salzburg lost 4-2 to Djurgården who with its third win in a row becomes the first team to reach 9 points in the European Trophy. Wins also for Adler Mannheim, HV71, TPS, Slovan Bratislava and Luleå in Sunday’s games.

 
 
 
 
Djurgården of Stockholm is the only team with three regular time wins and tops the North Division of the European Trophy. After wins 5-2 against Slavia Praha and 4-2 against Sparta Praha, Sunday’s game aginst Red Bulls Salzburg was also won 4-2.

The Austrian guests took the lead twice. Thomas Raffl scored 0-1 in the second period and Brent Aubin 1-2 in the second, but Djurgården tied it twice (Mattias Carlsson and John Norman) and with just 7 seconds remaining of period 2 Philip Holm gave the Swedes the lead for the first time. Andreas Holmqvist then made it 4-2 with five minutes remaining.

Another team with three wins is Slovan Bratislava. Game one was won in the shootout against KalPa and another Finnish team, Kärpät, was beaten 4-1 in the second game. In yesterday’s game Linköping of Sweden was defeated 3-0. All goals were scored in the third period by Peter Frühauf, Libor Hudacek and David Skokan before a crowd of 4,639. Branislav Konrad made 40 saves for the shutout.

Adler Mannheim entered the tournament yesterday and started with a 6-3 win away to Vienna Capitals in the sold out (4,700) Albert Schultz Eishalle.

For TPS Turku, the game against Slavia Praha was also the first game. TPS won 2-0 on goals by Marko Anttila and Tomas Plihal. Marek Schwarz in the TPS net saved all 29 shots he faced.

Luleå and HV71 got away with one-goal wins. Luleå beat Sparta Praha 2-1 at home and HV71 won 3-2 away to Kometa Brno.

There are no European Trophy games played today. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Liberec plays Brno in Svijanska Arena.

Should Red Bull Salzburg fail to qualify for the final tournament in Salzburg, they will automatically take place of the worst second-placed team across all divisions.
