Mestis will be suspended for the rest of the year
The second level league in the Finnish hockey league system will be put on hold for the remainder of 2020.
On Tuesday, the Government of Mestis proposed that the league will be suspended due to the current coronavirus situation.
- This is an unfortunate but necessary decision on which all the Mestis clubs agreed. I hate to disappoint all fans, but here too it is worth going for health first," says Olli Aro, Chief Operating Officer of Mestis.
When it comes to training, teams strictly follow general health and hygiene guidelines, as well as guidelines and recommendations from regional authorities, which vary from region to region.
It is hoped that Mestis will continue as normally as possible in January.
The updated spring schedule will be announced later.
