Scotland calls time on Ice Hockey for this season
As the pandemic continues to ravage ice hockey throughout the world the Scottish Ice Hockey Association decided enough is enough.
The Scottish Ice Hockey Association is extremely sad to
announce that the season 2020-2021 will now be cancelled.
The pandemic has presented so many challenges and
restrictions that it was felt that a full or part season could not be
undertaken.
Chairman Tony Hand said “There are currently numerous rinks
which remain closed and the timescale for re-opening them is unclear. Even if
we were to get to a point where they could open it appears that fans would not
be allowed in and as clubs are reliant on fans the clubs simply could not
function.
In the long term it is our intention to play an extended
2021-2022 season as early as possible providing all rinks remain open during
the summer”
This is more bad news for ice hockey in Great
Britain after the Elite league (EIHL)
cancelled its season a few months ago.
