Nottingham and Tychy advances
The Continental Cup Second Round, played in the weekend, ended without surprises
As expected,
Nottingham Panthers and
GKS Tychy won their groups in
Continental Cup second round advancing to Semifinals.
Panthers completed a perfect record in Jaca, Spain, winning
13-2 aganst home side CH Jaca,
12-1 against First Round winner Zeytinburnu Istanbul and
3-1 in the decisive clash versus HK Liepaja. David Clarke finished as top scorer with 4 goals and 4 assists. Liepaja, Zeytinburnu and Jaca completed the standing. Nottingham will fly to Odense, Denmark, to face home side Bulldogs, Angers Ducs (FRA) and HC Donbass (UKR) in November.
Last Continental Cup bronze medallist GKS Tychy, playing in front of its fans, complicated the campaign with an unexpected overtime loss against Alps Hockey League leader HDD Jesenice after a terrific
12-0 debut against Dunarea Galati but secured the qualification winning
5-2 with a decisive third period, against MOL Liga champion DVTK Jegesmedvek. Hungarian team misses the qualification at the last gasp for the second consecutive year. Tychy will now enter in Group E, battling with Beybarys Atyrau (KAZ), Shakhtar Soligorsk (BLR) and SV Renon (ITA) in Italy
