Two of the most representative players of Magnotogosrk reach historic marks in last games

The journey of Metallurg Magnitogorsk to reach the Gagarin Cup finals was marked by two historic moments involving club legends: on March 14, in the Eastern Conference semifinal game #4 against Sibir Novosibirsk, won 4-3 by Magnitogorsk in overtime, forward Sergei Mozyakin, serving the assist for the first goal of Magnitika, scored by Danis Zaripov, becomes the first player in the history of KHL to reach 900 points. To complete the special day for Mozyakin, he also scored the winning goal at overtime.

Two weeks after, the decisive game of Eastern Conference finals against Salavat Yulaev Ufa, won 3-2 by Magnitogorsk at overtime after an 81 minutes marathon, was the stage for cap number 700, all with Metallurg jersey, for forward Alexei Kaigorodov, becoming the first player in the history of club to reach this number. Kaigorodov, 32, debuted in 2001-02 season on Metallurg jersey and returned to the club at the beginning of current season after stints in Salavat Yulaev, Barys Astana and Dynamo Moscow. In 2006-07 he played 6 games at Ottawa Senators in NHL. Besides Kaigorodov, in the history of Metallurg only three players break the barrier of 600 matches, Evgeny Biryukov (664 games), Denis Platonov (662) and Sergei Osipov (651). Biryukov and Platonov are still in Magnitogorsk roster
