The Swiss also triumphed in both their games against Czech Republic at last year's World Championship, winning 5-2 in the preliminary round and 2-1 in the quarterfinal on their way to taking silver, their best-ever world championship result.

Czech Petr Nedved can become only the second winter olympian to win medals 20 years apart. He would join fellow ice hockey player Bibi Torriani, who took bronze at the 1928 and 1948 Olympic Winter Games.
