A weekend of great hockey in Hungary

A weekend of great hockey in Hungary

DAB.Docler Dunaujvaros and Miskolci JJSE both were organizers of international preparation tournaments this weekend. Along with Corona Wolves Brasov, these two MOL Liga teams organized top notch preparation tournaments before the start of a new season.

Docler Holding Cup was the name of another great tournament put together by DAB.Docler and the invited teams were exciting ones as well. The champion of the German DEL-2 league, Bietigheim SteelersSHK 37 Piestany from the Slovak Extraliga, and the Polish champion Cracovia Krakow. Same as before, dabdocler.hu provided high quality online video streams of each game which is a huge plus for the organizing team!

Even if the Steelers came from an inferior German league, the knowledge of hockey they brought to the table was clearly above the others. They easily surpassed SHK 37 Piestany (5-2) and Cracovia Krakow (7-2), but they needed a bit more work with DAB.Docler. The MOL Liga champion almost produced a surprise giving the fans a great hockey game against the Germans, but in the end the final result was 4-3 for the Steelers.

From a MOL Liga perspective, DAB.Docler's performance was excellent, with a bit of a luck, they could have won this tournament and let's not forget that they beat Piestany (4th place last year in Slovakia) and the Polish champion Cracovia Krakow (note: Cracovia is in the same group in the 2nd round of the Continental Cup as DAB.Docler and HSC Csikszereda, even if their Continental Cup participation is still questionable due to a dispute with Polish Federation)

Bietigheim Steelers – SHK 37 Piestany  5–2

SHK 37 Piestany – Cracovia Krakow  2–1[so]

Bietigheim Steelers – Dab.Docler  4–3

In this same weekend, a few hundred kilometers away, Miskolc was the host of the Miskolc Auto Cup which had a rather surprising winner. Again, the invited teams were not at all bad teams, on paper each participant was better than your average MOL Liga contender. The invited teams were SAPA Fehervar AV19 (Hungary, EBEL); KH Sanok (Polish Extraliga), MsHK Zilina (Slovak Extraliga).

Fans were convinced that the Hungarian EBEL participant will easily win this competition, and on the first day they hammered Miskolc (3-8) which confirmed the power of SAPA Fehervar. However the next two games were tighter and Sanok ruined their celebration by surprisingly winning the match (the final) with 2-1 on Sunday. This same Sanok was defeated by Miskolc in a previous preparation match this summer with 5-3.

Miskolc played for the 3rd place with Zilina and fortunately they pulled themselves together winning the match with 5-2. It was quite an important game for the home team, as the previous two were not convincing for the fans. All in all the fans had a great hockey filled weekend, and the last match proved that the Miskolc Polar Bears are breathing and are ready for the next MOL Liga season!

MsHK Zilina – KH Sanok  1–4

Miskolci Jegesmedvék – SAPA Fehérvár  3–8

KH Sanok – Miskolci Jegesmedvék  4–2

Sapa Fehérvár AV19 – MsHK Zilina  2–0

KH Sanok – SAPA Fehérvár  2-1

Miskolci Jegesmedvék – MsHK Zilina  5-2

Final standings:
1. KH Sanok 9 points

2. Sapa Fehérvár AV19  6 p.

3. Miskolci Jegesmedvék 3 p.

4. MsHK Zilina 0 p.
