Ice hockey conference to develop game in Asia

IIHF meet 17 Federations in Kuwait to develope icehockey in Asia
Chairman of Kuwait winter games club Fuhaid Al-Ajmi said that the conference of the Asian Ice Hockey Federation which kicked off in Kuwait on Friday, aims to develop and spread this sport in Asian countries, especially in countries where ice hockey was recently introduced.
Al-Ajmi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday that the conference is attended by representatives of the International Ice Hockey Federation, representatives of 17 Asian federations, and also representatives from Australia and New Zealand's federations.
He noted that the conference will discuss supporting players, technical staff, and coaches of ice hockey by their country's federations, to develop their level of expertise in the game.
Al-Ajmi said he was proud that his club is hosting this event, which is held in an Arab country for the first time, adding that the conference which will proceed for three days, will come up with important decisions regarding developing the game in Asia.
The chairman praised the support given by Chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for this game and all winter games. He also praised the efforts of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, to make it possible for the club to host the conference.
Meanwhile, member of the International Ice Hockey Federation in charge of developing the game in Asia, said that Asian federations have come a long way towards spreading the game, and participating in international tournaments.
He also noted that the federation will support all Asian federations in their development quest, praising the Kuwaiti organizing of the conference.
