An incredible story from Tilburg: sponsor stopped to support junior team after suffering an armed robbery by some players

Destil company, a long-time hockey team Tilburg Trappers sponsor, immediately stopped the sponsorship of the Tilburg junior team after one or more young players of the club are accused of involvement in an armed robbery of the director of the company.
Destil will remains the title sponsor of the main team.
Company Director was attacked in his home in Moergestel late last year by three masked persons. It was a very violent robbery with threats with a firearm and a shot fired. According to IJshockey.com website there wasn't any player of the club involved in the action, but the players in question are suspected to have contributed to the preparation of the robbery. Last spring five suspects were arrested for robbery, including at least one member of the junior section of Tilburg Trappers. The suspects were at the time of the robbery between 17 and 23 years.Two are still in jail, the other three are waiting trial free. Destil Director Gert-Jan van Eck, told he is considering to completely stop sponsoring Trappers at the end of this season "I would like to close this period soon .For me hockey always was my passion and my life, and they now snatched up it " said to van Eck to Omroep Brabant newspaper. Tilburg Trappers already went bankrupt in 2011.
