Avangard Omsk defender Anton Belov was found positive during an antidoping control on April 15, after the second match of the KHL finals against Dynamo Moscow won 2-1 by Dynamo. The substance found is known as S6 class B, probably taken by Belov through a non-certified sports vitamin supplement. According to experts, the substance do not have a significant effect on athletic performance.
KHL has made an official statement about the case: "Kontinental Hockey League has received official notification from the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) of a positive test result for the player Anton Belov. In accordance with the decision of the Agency  KHL suspended the hockey player from the competition. The decision on sanctions to the player will be taken at a meeting of the commission after RUSADA proceedings in accordance with nation-wide anti-doping rules.
Kontinental Hockey League in the fight for the purity of hockey in the season 2011/2012 conducted 350 doping tests, significantly higher than in previous seasons. In respect of the players of both teams involved in the final series of Gagarin Cup 2012 anti-doping activities will be strengthened"

Same RUSADA later today formally notified the absence of positive results in doping tests conducted after the third match of the final series of Gagarin Cup on April 17
Avangard coach Raimo Summanen, before the receive the official result, preferred not comment the fact: "I don't know. Our doctor knows. Ask the doctor why he did not let him (Belov) play" while Dynamo President Mikhail Tyurkin commented "It's sad and frustrating that there are people who take dope. If Belov is proven guilt, we want justice. According to regulations of the KHL, if one of the players on the team result in a positive doping test, the number of players who will be tested next time doubles."
