Tánczos Barna, the President of the Romanian Ice Hockey Federation appealed for calm before the semifinals and the finals. “It is unfortunate what has happened in recent days, and such incidents overshadow all efforts made by the Federation, to attract as many children as possible around this beautiful sport. Unfortunately these incidents came on this weekend, when U10 tournaments were held in Brasov, Miercurea Ciuc and Cârţa , attended by hundreds of children in a fantastic atmosphere. The Federation condemns all manifestations of violence, both verbal and physical, towards hockey players but also spectators. As President, I call out for Fair-Play to all officials and players, that from now on, before the games of the semifinals and finals, each player to follow the rules strictly and seek athletic performance. We are mature people and sport performance must take priority over personal rumbles, calculations on where and how to make a revenge. I also want to warn the seniors that they represent an example for children and juniors at the clubs where they play, and because of this reason I want them to be more responsible on and off the ice.“, said Tánczos Barna.
The head of FRHG has shown confidence in the members of the disciplinary committee, who will analyze the incidents “During Monday committee members gather all the information necessary to analyze the incidents: the points of view of the two clubs, referee reports, observer reports and video recordings. I have full confidence that those of the disciplinary committee have the ability to fairly and impartially analyze what happened, and those responsible will pay”, concluded Tánczos Barna.
