Yesterday in Vysshaya Hockey League match between Neftyanik Almetievsk and Kristall Saratov, home team forward Rustam Shangaraev set the new VHL fastest goal record, noting first goal after 7 seconds. Neftyanik won the game 6-4

The Winter Universiade is played in Turkey Jan 27- Feb 6. The hockey tournament has finished the first stage and the Quarter Finals will be played on Thursday: Kazakhstan-Japan, Canada-Slovakia, Russia-Czech Republic and Belarus-USA.
Scoring leaders so far with 5 goals and 4 assists are Evgeny Belukhin (RUS) and Hiromichi Terao (JPN).
02 Feb 2011, 14:07 | The broken ice resurfacer caused a Slovak Extraliga game postponement
An ice-flute on the Zvolen ice rink that was caused by broken ice-resurfacer gearbox was the reason of the yesterday's game postponement between Zvolen and Košice. The technicians weren't able to fix it and the game referee Peter Lokšík decided about the game postponement. The substitute term for the 50th Slovak Extraliga round game was established on February 14th.

Yesterday, the third phase of tickets selling for the upcoming World Championships, that will be held in Bratislava and Košice, Slovakia, started. After 4 hours of selling, 6 902 tickets were sold.
There are more than 211 000 tickets sold overall what is making the organizers happy, because they started thinking about ticket discounts earlier.

Every week the KHL is announcing names of the week's best players in four cathegories. Here are the players of the 19th KHL 2010/11 week:
Best goaltender: Vitaly Kolesnik. Kolesnik, 31, saved 97.9% of shots against Salavat Yulaev net in the two last week's games. Salavat had won both of them with only 1 recieved goal, what makes brilliant goal average value for 0.5.
Best defender: Sandish Ozolinsh. Ozolinsh scored once and assisted for antoher one goal in the last week's two Dinamo Riga games. The 38-year old veteran also reached rating +4.
Best forward: Lukáš Kašpar. We expect goals from forwards and goals are exactly what 25-year old Kašpar brought into the Barys Astana games during last week, when he scored 4-times in 2 games. He added another one assist and earned +5 rating.
Best rookie: Grigory Zhedlakov. Just 18-year old defender of Spartak Moscow spent 17minutes and 25 seconds on the ice for an two games average. Grigory scored twice and reached +3 rating.
31 Jan 2011, 22:16 | Radek Duda is suspected for the pedestrian insultation
Radek Duda, 32-year old forward of Chomutov(CZE 1.liga) who spent last weeks in the Czech Extraliga team Plzen on a loan, is suspected for the pedestrian insultation. The incident happened on the road crosswalk in Karlovy Vary, where the agressor insulted a pedestrianin on Tuesday, Jan 25.
According to the witness statements the number plate of the agressor's car meets the Duda's BMW as well as the offender description meets Duda: the 190 cm height, thin, white man around 30 years of age.
The Czech Police haven't started with investigation until today, policemen are examing the witness statements now.
Radek Duda is known in Czech republic for his rebel reputation: In March 2002 he spitted into David Moravec's face during game between his Plzeň and Vítkovice. Later this year he impeach Karlovy Vary defender Řezníček for negotiating of the Czech Extraliga results. He also insulted Liberec's defendsman Čakajík in Liberec's locker room after game misconduct of both player. In October 2008 he vulgar attacked Radek Bělohlav's family and finally in November 2008 he had a fught with his team-mate Milan Gulaš during České Budějovice training.
Duda told to Deniksport.cz that he has grown up and he won't be the same "weirdo" anymore, but this suspicion can be an end of the chastened rebel as well as dirty lie.
The KLH Chomutov club released a press statement that the only information what Chomutov has regarding this case are news from media. The club also wrote that Radek Duda contacted the Czech Police himself and the club or the player neither won’t comment the case until the Police investigation won’t come to an end.

National Hockey League named the three best players for this ending month.
The first star of January is Patrice Bergeron, 25-year old forward of Boston Bruins. He deserved this honour also thanks to a streak of four consecutive games with mutliple points scored(Jan 8: vs. Montréal 2+0; Jan 10 vs. Pittsburgh 0+2; Jan 11 vs. Ottawa 3+0; Jan 13 vs. Philadelphia 1+1). Bergeron also leads the team individual statistics with 40 points(16+24) in 50 games.
The second star of January was named Keith Yandle, 24-year old defender of Phoenix Coyotes. NHL appreciates his high scoring potention: 17 points in 14 games is very good number for the defender. Yandle tallied individual points in 11 of 14 January games and now he is on a nine-game point streak - the best streak of all NHL players now.
The third star of January is the only player from this third who isn't scoring goals but he's saving his team against them: 28-year old goaltender of Nashville Predators Pekka Rinne. Rinne started in 11 of 13 Nashville January games and he reached better numbers than all other NHL goaltenders in two of three goaltenders important statistics for this month: He won 8 games with 1.71 goals-against average. Only in saves percentage he was "just" second, his number for January stopped on 0.947%.

Zdeno Chára, 33, broke his own 2-years old World record for the hardest shot during the NHL All Stars weekend that was held in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The new World record value is 170.4 kmph(105.9mph), which is 0,8kmph(0.5mph) better than the old one.

Serie A2 Appiano Pirates fired British-Canadian coach Mike Ellis and replaces him with Finnish Jari Helle, well known in Italy as coach of Caldaro, Bolzano, Vipiteno and same Appiano. He won 2nd division title with Pirates in 2002 and 2006, but his best record is 2 Italian titles, a National Cup and a SuperCup with Bolzano in 2007-08 and 2008-09 along with American Jamie Dumont. He previously coached Mestis Leki Lempäälä this season

Before the game against Valerenga last sunday, Frisk Asker retired Thor Martinsen number #4. Thoresen, 66 years old, played 302 games for Asker and won the first Tigers title in 1974 as captain. He appeared also in 13 world Championship and 4 Olympic Games for Norway.
Martinsen is the first ever Frisk player to be honoured with retire of number
31 Jan 2011, 12:22 | The first ice in the under-reconstruction Ondrej Nepela stadium
Today the works on making of the first ice inside of the Ondrej Nepela stadium started during the reconstruction works.
The ice will stay here until February 12, when the Slovakia cup will come to an end and what will be held in the Nepela ice rink. After that, the ice will be dissolved again.
This will be the first time when the ice will be inside of the Ondrej Nepela stadium since the spring of 2009, when the general reconstruction for the upcoming 2011 World Championships started.
