As was expected, Marian Jelínek, 47, signed a one-year contract with the Czech Extraliga club HC Plzeň 1929 where he already spent the last two seasons in the position as the team's head coach. A gold-medalist from the WC 2005 with Czech Republic as an assistant coach stated, that the summer training camp will start in May 2. "We hope we will fetch about five new players for the next season," Jelínek said.

The final battle of two strongest teams in Czech 1. liga became a surprisingly one-sided affair. Usti nad Labem swept Chomutov aside in four straight games (2-1, 5-4, 3-2, 4-1) to win the league. Last season, the same pair fought a seven-game series with Chomutov becoming an eventual winner. Usti now advances to the best-of-seven series against Mlada Boleslav for a spot in Extraliga for next season. The series starts on 6th April.

Still playing legend of Czech ice hockey, Jiří Dopita, announced that it is for 90% certain, that he won't continue his engagement in the Czech Extraliga club HC Kometa Brno - the team where he spent the previous two seasons and where he's a team captain.
Dopita is an owner of the club from Olomouc that is playing in the second highest Czech league - 1.liga and regarding to his words there are just two possibilities for his future: HC Olomouc or retirement.

Odessa's departure from the CHL continues a recent exodus as Amarillo and Corpus Christi moved to the NAHL last season.

The SKA St. Petersburg Council of President's reacted on the team's underachievement really quick. As the first move after the team's elimination from the KHL quarterfinals they announced the end of Václav Sýkora in the position as head coach and also of Jan Votruba, his assistant.
One day before this action the president of club Alexander Medvedev told, that players are winning the games, coaches are losing, which hinted a possibility of Sýkora's and Votruba's removing from the team.
