Game recap

Dundee Stars got their first win in Manchester since March 2017 with a Sebastian Bengtsson hat trick helping them to a 6-2 victory over the Storm on Sunday night.

This nine-goal game was scoreless through the opening 20 minutes in front of 1249 fans at the Storm Shelter, but burst into life in period two. Sebastian Bengtsson gave the Stars the lead at 27:40 tapping in at the back post form Philippe Sanche's pass, followed some four minutes later Michael Poirier making it two.

Adam Brady got the Storm back into things at 37:09, and by 39:41 the game was tied when Jared Vanwormer was left all alone in the slot to skate in and finish past Adam Morrison. Two each after 40 minutes.

Period three produced another five goals but it did not go the way the majority of the crowd had hoped. Bengtsson put Dundee back ahead 3:45 into the third with a shot form a very tight angle on the rush, and 48 seconds later Charlie Combs wrapped around to beat James Downie short side and give the visitors a two-goal advantage.

Bengtsson made it a hat trick with a wonderful slapshot after a good pass from Combs on the powerplay at 46:12, with Poirier scoring from the point at 49:52 on another man advantage to put Dundee 6-2 up and well in control. Vanwormer got the Storm back to within three with his second of the night, but it wasn't enough to stage a fightback inside the final six minutes and the Stars help on for only their third away win of the season.
