Dundee ended Sheffield's unbeaten streak at nine games in all competitions with a 3-2 victory on home ice on Sunday night.

The Stars, who had beaten Coventry less than 24 hours earlier, took their chances well and went ahead inside 11 minutes. The home side broke 2-on-1 and Sebastian Bengtsson grabbed his eleventh of the season as he shot through Rok Stojanovič with 10:55 played.

Sheffield levelled less than three minutes later through Robert Dowd after excellent work by Daine Todd to ensure the scores were level after the opening period, with Adam Morrison making a string of good saves to keep it all square.

52 seconds into period two, the Steelers went ahead with their powerplay putting them ahead thanks to an excellent wrist shot from Marc-Olivier Vallerand. Just over four minutes later, however, the Stars were level after the Steelers turned over the puck behind their own net allowing Timi Lahtinen to tee up Craig Garrigan for the equaliser.

Much of the reason the scores stayed level in period three was Morrison in the Stars' net, and that allowed the Stars to score the all-important next goal. Charlie Cobs got the final touch as the puck bounced around with 8:17 to play.

The home side almost went further ahead but for the puck to be cleared off the line, checked after video review, which set up a tense finish as the Steelers pushed for an equaliser with Stojanovič pulled. Morrison and bodies blocking in front of him kept the Steelers out, and the Stars held on for a big two points.
