Tournament win for Magnitogorsk

Metallurg Magnitogorsk won the Governor of Chelyabinsk Cup after beating Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk 5-2 in the final. The home team Traktor captures the third place.
When Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk and Metallurg Magnitogorsk played yesterday on the last day of the group stage Neftekhimik got the win thanks to a shootout win, but today when there was more at stake in the final, Metallurg was the stronger team.
Metallurg won the final 5-2 (1-1, 1-3, 0-1). The game was close at the middle of the second period but Sergey Mozyakin scored 4-2 at 35:02 and added 5-2 with 5:16 remaining of the game. Evgeny Lapenkov made it 1-0 for Neftekhimik at 6:24 and Mikhail Yakubov tied it seven minutes later and the first period ended 1-1. Metallurg won the second period 3-1. Anton But scored 2-1 and Juhamatti Aaltonen 3-1. Martin Cibak made it 3-2 at 29:13 to give Neftekhimik new hope, but Mozyakin saved the day for Metallurg with his two goals.
In the game for the third place the home team Traktor Chelyabinsk beat Avangard Omsk 2-1. Anton Burdasov scored 1-0 for Traktor in the first period. Jan Bulis made it 2-0 in the middle of the second period. Avangard’s only goal was scored by Alexander Popov on the 36-minute mark.
The group stage was a close contest. Four of the six games were not decided after 60 minutes of play.
