The NHL Draft in Minnesota continued today with rounds 2 through 7. 210 players were selected. 68 of them are European.
68 of the 210 (32%) selected players in the 2011 NHL Entry draft were European. Last year, 52 (25%) Europeans were chosen and in 2009 54 (26%).
As expected, Sweden dominated the European countries with 28 selected players. Four of them, Gabriel Landeskog (2), Adam Larsson (4), Mika Zibanejad (6) and Jonas Brodin (10), went in the top 10; a new Swedish record. The old record was 24 players (2009).
The Czech Republic and Finland each had 10 players selected. Next was Russia with 9, then Slovakia 4, Germany 2, Switzerland 2, Norway 2 and Denmark 1.
