Winners of the 2024 Swiss Ice Hockey Night Announced

The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation held the Swiss Ice Hockey Night at the Attisholz-Areal in Solothurn, where the best players of the 2023/2024 season were honored for their extraordinary performances.
At tonight's gala event, attended by around 550 guests from the sports and political spheres, the top performers of the past season were awarded in categories such as "Most Valuable Player (MVP) Regular Season National League," "MVP Playoffs National League," "Goaltender of the Year National League," "Youngster of the Year National League," "MVP PostFinance Women's League," "MVP Swiss League," and "MVP MyHockey League." The winners were selected by club representatives, team captains, and selected sports journalists.
Additionally, a "Hockey Award" and a "Special Award" were presented for exceptional contributions to Swiss ice hockey. The candidates for these awards represented Swiss ice hockey as pioneers or role models, took new paths, or gained recognition for their performances on the international stage.
In the lead-up to the event, readers of "blick.ch" voted online to select the "Most Popular Player." Each National League club had nominated one of its players for this category.
Overview of the Winners
MVP Regular Season National League: Calvin Thürkauf
The 27-year-old captain of HC Lugano played a total of 62 games last season, scoring 29 goals and providing 39 assists. At the World Championship in Prague and Ostrava, the forward participated in all ten games.
MVP Playoffs National League: Denis Malgin
Malgin impressed with his game sense and offensive skills, playing a crucial role in the ZSC Lions’ championship title. In 15 playoff games, the 27-year-old, who has played over 260 NHL games, scored six goals and provided eight assists.
Youngster of the Year: Vinzenz Rohrer
At just 19 years old, Vinzenz Rohrer was one of the National League's top attractions. The player from Vorarlberg, known for his face-off skills, won the hearts of ZSC fans with his energetic style and consistent performances.
Female Player of the Year: Alina Müller
Alina Müller is a leading figure in international women’s ice hockey. Since September 2023, she has played in the newly established Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) in Boston, where she recently reached the playoff finals. This is her third "Woman of the Year" award, following honors in 2018, 2019, and 2022.
Goaltender of the Year: Šimon Hrubec
Goaltender Šimon Hrubec recorded five shutouts during the playoffs and achieved a save percentage of 93.9%. The 33-year-old Czech was also a key component of the championship team from Zurich.
MVP PostFinance Women’s League: Estelle Duvin
Estelle Duvin of SC Bern had an outstanding season, scoring 37 goals and providing 38 assists in 36 games, making her the league's top scorer. She also won the 2024 National Cup with Bern.
MVP Swiss League: Toms Andersons
For the second consecutive season, Latvian player Toms Andersons secured the MVP title in Switzerland's second-highest league. In the regular season, the 30-year-old scored 50 points, and in the playoffs, he added eight goals and 12 assists to lead HC La Chaux-de-Fonds to the championship.
MVP MyHockey League: Arnaud Schnegg
The league's top scorer, Arnaud Schnegg of HC Franches-Montagnes, impressed with 49 points in 32 regular-season games. In addition to six seasons in the Swiss League, the 23-year-old forward played in the National League with HC Ajoie in the 2021/2022 season.
Hockey Award: Men’s National Team
At the World Championship in Prague and Ostrava, the Swiss men's national team, under head coach Patrick Fischer, earned a silver medal through focused and disciplined play, strong team spirit, and resilience. This marks the third silver medal for the team in the last eleven years.
Special Award: Beat Forster
With six championships, two Spengler Cup victories, 1,171 National League games, 109 international appearances, six World Championships, and an Olympic participation, Swiss hockey icon Beat Forster retired last season. The "Special Award" recognizes the defenseman's outstanding career.
Most Popular Player: Andres Ambühl (picture)
Aside from a brief stint in North America and with the ZSC Lions, Davos legend Andres Ambühl has spent his career in his homeland. With HC Davos, he won five titles and one championship with the ZSC Lions. In May, Ambühl, the record holder for most World Championship games, secured his second World Championship silver medal after 2013. With 1,262 National League games, the five-time "Most Popular Player" is just eight games shy of Beat Gerber's record.
