Due the financial problems the Norwegain Ice Hockey Federation has decided to pause most of their national for at least the remainder of 2023.
After a financial resultat for the Norwegian Ice Hockey Federation with a loss of almost 1 Million Euro the federation has been forced to take drastic measures to get the finances in balance. Besides cutting administration costs including cutting five employees the federation has also decided to skip almost all activities for the different national teams during the rest of 2023.
The only team that will keep their full schedule is the Mens U20 team that will play the World Junior Championship in December. The Womens team will play the Division 1 World Championship in China starting tomorrow but after that also that team will not have any more activities during 2023. All other national teams including the Men's team that finished 13th at the last World Championship will be paused for at least the remainder of 2023.
The plan is that the national teams will be back in 2024 again if the financial situation allows it. The general secretary of the federation Ottar Eide says to VG, "I hope it will be a more normal next year"..
