Switzerland is the last country to take drastic measures to limit the Covid-19 infection. Following the decision of Ticino Region to cancel all sport events, including the hockey games of Lugano and Ambri-Piotta, today all the clubs decided to considering finished the season, without playing playoffs and playouts for both National League and Swiss League, as for all the lower divisions

"It is our responsibility to protect the health of all our players and club members: this is now a top priority," explained Denis Vaucher, director of the National and Swiss League.
"The conditions have changed and are no longer the same for everyone. Because of this new situation, there is no other option but to cancel the season" said Peter Zahner, CEO of ZSC Lions, to Blick newspaper.

On Friday, during an Extraordinary League Assembly scheduled in Ittigen, the League will decide regarding any titles to be assigned - as well as the teams to be promoted and relegated

Switzerland is the seventh country to cancel the hockey season. In the last days same decision was taken by:

  • Germany
  • Austria
  • Poland
  • Norway
  • Italy
  • Hungary/Romania
  • Slovenia
  • Slovakia

Czech Republic, France and Denmark suspended playoffs until a further decision

Kazakhstan and Ukraine leagues playoffs will be played without attendance

Sweden ended the regular season playing last round without attendance and should decide about playoffs later today (Thursday)
