With a 4-1 win over the ZSC Lions, HC Davos took revenge for yesterdays loss and directly qualified for the 2016 Champions Hockey League edition.

Davos had a slightly better start but had to show their defensive qualities a first time when Beat Forster was benched for hooking after 6 minutes but the Lions were unable to produce chances. Just as Forster’s penalty was about to expire Noah Schneeberger took a fighting minor penalty but again the home team had difficulties to create scoring chances.

Captain Matthias Seger then took a break for slashing in the 11th minute but just like during the previous 2 powerplays, Davos wasn’t able to capitalise on their chance.

In the 16th minute the Lions scored the alleged first goal but after review the goal was not given due to high stick.

A little more than a minute was played in the second period when Davos’ Dick Axelsson scored the first goal of the game with a shot from the left face-off circle and beat Niklas Schlegel above his leg pad. The game now definitely picked up speed after a ponderous first 20 minutes. The Lions had a slight advantage, were able to hold the puck in the offensive zone and with 29 minutes on the clock Fabrice Herzog, who had returned from a month's break, scored the equalizer, assisted by top scorer Robert Nilsson and Auston Matthews. 44 minutes were played when Marc Wieser played a cross pass to Pertu Lindgren who stood in front of Schlegel unattended and scored the second goal for Davos.

With a little over 2 minutes left first Marc Wieser was benched and 7 seconds later it was Chris Baltisberger on the Lions side who had to sit but neither team was able to increase their score before the period ended.

Davos came out storming in the starting minutes of the last period when Tino Kessler from the far left corner passed the puck to Andres Ambühl who just let it deflect off his stick and beat Schlegel a for a third time tonight. Coach Marc Crawford removed his goalie with over two minutes left. Pertu Lindgren saw his chance and scored the empty netter with over a minute left on the clock. Schlegel took his place in the net after the goal and so the last game between the first and second placed teams ended 4-1.
