After one season and the triumphal Continental Cup campaign russian coach not renewed contract

Last week Neman Grodno Chairman of the board Anatoly Varivonchik announced that head coach Vasili Spiridonov left the club for not specified family reasons. The announcement came after some confused rumours about the departure of Spiridonov and the vague explanation given by the coach from his home in Moscow:

"The contract was intended to expire at theend the season. Nobody has broken it and all rights and obligations have been met. We simply shook hands and parted by mutual consent" said Spiridonov. "I spent a lot of energy and health in order to win the Continental Cup.Now I have much to rethink. This is my only  immediate plan"

When asked if there was a tentative to extend the agreement, Spiridonov simply said: "I can not answer this question."

Arrived in Grodno in October after three winning seasons at Zhlobin, Spiridonov won the Continental Cup with Neman, giving to club the right to compete in next CHL, but was eliminated in the semifinals of Belarus Extraliga by future champion Shakhtar Soligorsk
