Strasbourg beaten but still on top

Epinal wins the top-match of the week-end. Amiens and Grenoble back to the first places.
Epinal – Strasbourg 3-2 OT
Strasbourg lost the derby of the East but they offered a hard resistance against GamYo.They were leading 2-1 after the second period but Michal Petrak equalized in powerplay at 1’55 before the end of the game. In overtime Vincent Kara scored the winning goal. Despite this loss Strasbourg is still leading the league.
Amiens – Chamonix 4-2
Second straight win at home for the Gothics against one of the leaders. Chamonix equalized to 2-2 after a low start but two goals by young player Quentin Fauchon secured the victory for Amiens.
Dijon – Lyon 4-3 SO
Dijon needed the shootout to beat a surprising team of Lyon. Dijon lead 2-0 but the Lions never gave up and thanks to a new game of Kevin Gadoury the equalized at the end of the second period. Finnish Ilpo Salmivirta scored the decisive shootout.
Grenoble – Angers 4-2
Grenoble came back on the top of the league after an important win against Angers.Grenoble dominated all the game and lead 3-0 with two new points for Danick Bouchard. Swedish forward Hampus Gustafsson had one goal and one assist for his first match for the alpian club.
Briançon – Rouen 3-1
Briançon is looking better with a second win in a row.The French champions secured the victory by scoring three goals in the second period, including two goals for Ian McDonald. The Dragons are in a very disappointing 12th place.
Caen – Gap 3-4 OT
Caen thought they could win their first match of the season after leading 3-1 at the beginning of the second period. But an incredible performance of Nicolas Pard(2 goals including the decisive goal in overtime and one assist) shocked the club from Normandy. Gap’s coach Luciano Basile can feel better.
Brest – Morzine-Avoriaz 1-2
Important win for Morzine to avoid play-down series.Thanks to two goals in powerplay by Artyom Valerko and Peter Holecko the alpian club overtake their opponents.
After five matches Strasbourg leads the league with 9 points ahead ofa Epinal and Chamonix with 8 points.At the bottom of the standings Brest (3 points) and Caen who earned his first point are in the dangerous zone.
