ZSC Lions score 6 in a row, Kloten still flying low and Rapperswil with the first win of the season.
ZSC Lions - EV Zug 6-4
t was a first highlight of the season between the Lions from Zurich and EV Zug. But the host was off to a really bad start. For Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Robbie Earl it was a three point evening, Bouchard scoring 2 goals and an assist, Earl collecting a goal and two assists to give Zug a 4-0 lead after 14 minutes. But what happened in the second and third period was a demonstration of the Lions and their rock solid confidence. Instead of letting their heads hanging down, they stood up and scored 6 goals between the 23rd and 60th minute. Roman Wick, last years MVP, scored 2 goals and added 2 passes. Mike Künzle, Patrik Bärtschi and Morris Trachsler finished the game with 2 points each.
HC Davos - Kloten Flyers 8-3
The Flyers wanted to show a reaction to their slow start into the new season with 2 losses. But instead, the Capricorns sent the Flyers back home with package that will keep the coaching staff busy and thinking what they need to change after loosing 9 games in a row this season. 4 goals in the first period gave Davos the reassuring lead while Kloten could only counter with a single goal by Jenni in the first period. It seemed that the Flyers would be able to catch up as they got 2 additional goals on the board in the second period but Ville Koistinen just seconds before the end of the period made the score 5-3. Ex-Flyer Felicien Du Bois scored 2 goals against his old team in this game and so did Dario Simion with the third and last goal of the game. Kloten now finds itself at the bottom of the stands with zero points while Davos is placed third.
Rapperswil-Jona Lakers - HC Ambri-Piotta 4-2
Rapperswils Swedish selection has arrived! Niklas Persson with 2 goals and Niklas Danielsson with a goal and two assists were essential in giving the Lakers the first 3 points of the season against Ambri. After 20 minutes it looked like the bianco blu were on a good way to carry off those points as Adam Hall scored two goals within less than 3 minutes and gave his team a 2-1 lead. But three goals by Rapperswil in the secon period brought Ambri's ambition to an sudden end. The third period remaind goalless and so the Lakers hand over the last spot in the standings to the Flyers.
