The Finnish Lions keeps on dominating the EHT and made a strong effort at home in Helsinki as the last EHT tournament starts off.
In the first game of the last EHT tournament ever Finland made a solid game against a strong Russian team with stars like Ovechkin on the team.
But despite that Russia outshot Finland 31-16 it took until 58:43 until Nikolai Kulyomin managed to beat Mikko Koskinen in the Finnish goal the goal that was assisted by Ovechkin was scored while Russia was playing 6 on 4 after pulling the goalie being down 2-0.
Finland had taken the 2-0 lead after two power play goals. First in the first period by Leo Komarov and in the second period by Petri Kontiola.
Finland already winners of the 2013/2014 EHT now extended their lead even further.
Now both teams will travel from Helsinki to Stockholm to play the remainder of the tournament in Sweden as the last preparation before the World Championship in Minsk.
