Fribourg lost their first game of the playoffs at home against an efficient Flyers Team 2:4
Both teams had met 4 times during the regular season in which Fribourg
and Kloten each won 2 games. Fribourg finished just ahead of Kloten with
1 point.
In the first period it was Marc-Antoine Pouliot and Eric-Ray Blum that
got to each other in the 3rd minute and so both players were sent to
cool down for Roughing. But neither team could profit from the the
additional space on the ice. With 11 minutes played, centerman Romano
Lemm (Eric Blum) scored the opening goal of the game. And only 5 minutes
later Janick Steinmann doubled the score to make it 0:2. Tommi Santala
(Holding) and Lukas Stoop (Charging) gave Fribourg a chance to score the
connecting goal.
But it was Romano Lemm again in the 27th minute (Victor Stancescu) who
scored the 3rd goal and gave the Flyers a comfortable lead. But all of a
sudden, the Dragons got stronger, creating more chances and pushing
back the Flyers defense again and again. With 34 minutes played it was
Jérémie Karezin who brought Fribourg on the scoreboard a first time and
within a little more than a minute Timo Helbling added another goal to
make the score 2:3. Fribourg kept the pressure high but was unable to
add another goal to the score.
54 minutes were played when oldie Marcel Jenni scored on Benjamin Conz
in the top right corner assisted by Janick Steinmann and Aurelio Lemm. A
time out in the last minute didn't give Fribourg the break it need and
so this was too much for the Dragons and so the game ended with 2:4 and a
first break for the Flyers. The Series now continue on Saturday in
Kloten.
