What we wrote yesterday now has been officially confirmed by the NHL. The NHL will take a break during the Olympics.
The NHL and the player association NHLPA today announced that an agreement has been made with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that secures participation of NHL players in the upcoming 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
"The Players are very pleased that an agreement has been reached that will allow the world's best hockey players to compete at the Winter Games in February," said Don Fehr, NHLPA Executive Director. "Having the opportunity to wear their nation's sweater in Sochi is something the players look forward to."
The NHL will break on February 9 and return to action on February 26, the Olympic tournament is played between February 12 and February 23. It will be the fifth consecutive Olympic hockey tournament with NHL players
