Canadian signed a two-years contract
Metallurg Magnitogorsk Vice-President Gennadi Vyalichkin confirmed the rumour about the appointment of Canadian Mike Keenan as new headcoach: "That's it, Metallurg made a move for the future, we signed a two-year contract with Mike and we are very confident: in a club like Magnitogorsk, there is only one task: to fight for the League. We are sure that Mike will lead our club in the Gagarin Cup finals"
Keenan confirmed the sign with a short tweet: "I look forward to a new challenge in my career" and will add Canada national team fitness coach Mike Polino to Metallurg staff. Assistants will be Ilya Vorobyov and Evgeny Koreshkov
Keenan had his last experience as coach with Calgary Flames in 2007-08 season. Previously he coached Philadelphia, Chicago, New York Rangers, St. Louis, Vancouver, Boston and Florida, winning the Stanley Cup with Rangers in 1993-94. In last years he worked as an analyst for the New York Rangers and as a hockey analyst for NBC Sports Network.
