Dynamo Moscow also failed to use their second match ball in KHL's Western Conference final series. With this overtime win SKA puts them under a lot of pressure.
SKA St. Petersburg (1) - Dynamo Moscow (3) 2-1 OT
In the first half hour the guests from the Russian capital were the clearly better side but failed to use even best scoring opportunities. This though they finally managed to do at 48:34 when Alexei Sopin gave a perfect pass from right to the net towards the left circle from where Alexei Tsvetkov fired the puck into the right bottom corner. In this moment really nobody would have believed in a SKA comeback and the whole arena was shocked! The hosts gave their best though and Viktor Tikhonov scored the equalizer with a one-timer in power play from short distance when the guests had received a team penalty for having too many players on the ice. In the following overtime SKA took over the initiative as only a win would keep them in competition and Tony Martensson was succesful with a well-placed shot into the right bottom corner from the right wing at 98:02, just before the end of the second overtime.
The series will continue on Monday with game #6 in Moscow!
Dynamo lead 3-2 in the series
