DAB Docler had two overtime wins this past weekend, putting them up three games to one over HSC Csikszereda.  The Romanian side is on the ropes tonight in Dunaujvaros, where they will need to win three straight in order to steal the MOL Liga Championship from DAB Docler.

Game three saw the emergence of each team’s star players where they finally scored some goals in this series.  On Saturday, DAB Docler’s Galanisz and Szappanos each had a goal and an assist and Vaclav Novak had a goal and an assist for Csikszereda.  Novak’s assist came on a third period goal to Attila Goga that sent the game into overtime.  With little more than a minute remaining in the extra period, Attilla Pavuk scored unassisted in 4-on-4 play to put DAB Docler up two games to one.  Csikszereda had opportunities on DAB Docler’s eight minor penalties, but they could not score on the man advantage.  They also outshot this season’s best offensive team 33 to 26.

In game four, the MOL Liga’s top scoring line got the scoring started for DAB Docler with Galanisz scoring his playoff leading 12th point (5 goals, 7 assists) 39 seconds into the game, with assists from Pavuk and Szappanos.  HSC Csikszereda would score the next two goals on the power play, with credit to Jan Fadrny and Jaroslav Kmit, giving the Romanian’s the lead with less than ten minutes remaining in the game.  Lajos Tokesi would even the game up on a DAB Docler power play with eight minutes remaining, sending game four into overtime.  Imre Peterdi took over the sudden death period two minutes in, with a second assist on the game from Jozef Mihalik, putting HSC Csikszereda on the ropes for the championship series.

A DAB Docler win tonight will give them their second straight MOL Liga Championship and a celebration in front of their loyal home crowd.  If Csikszereda wins tonight, the series will go back to Romania for Game 6 on Friday evening.
