Petr Nedvěd is Player of the Year in Czech Extraliga
Forty-year-old forward Petr Nedvěd took two awards during Tuesday's gala in Prague, Czech Republic. Now he is the second-oldest to win the Player-of-the-Year award in the country.
Only one player older than the Liberec forward has ever won the award. In 2010, goaltender Dominik Hašek did it while he was 45. Except the MVP award, Nedvěd was officially recognized as the league's top point scorer of the regular season for his 61 points in 49 games (24G+37A).
"It's a kind of satisfaction to me," said Nedvěd, currently preparing with the Team Czech Republic for his first World Championship.
