At the second games at the East Avangard earned an easy win over Metallurg to tie the series, Ak Bars also lost the second game in Chelyabinsk.

The first game of the series ended only in overtime where was scored a lonely goal. Game 2 started with great pressure on the visitors net. Roman Cervenka, Igor Volkov and Alexander Frolov beat Ari Ahonen from the 4th to the 6th minute. Georgy Gelashvili substituted his partner Ahonen at this moment. In the first moment of the game Gelashvili lost his mask from the face and made a necessary break for his team. It couldn’t help Metallurg not to lose again. Roman Cervenka with a nice wrist shot made a double at 10:21. Avangard scored their fifth goal early in the second when Yury Alexandrov took a nice pass from Alexei Kalyuzhny and added the puck into the net. Metallurg only managed to score twice to the end of the second. Dmiry Obukhov and Mikhail Yakubov beat Karri Ramo with two rare Metallurg shots. The series is now tied but home ice advantage after two games was grabbed by Metallurg Mg.

Traktor 2–1 Ak Bars

Traktor increased their lead in the series due to the help of the best GWG scorer of the regular season Yevgeny Kuznetsov. Chelyabinsk-born Danis Zaripov opened the scoring in this game with a PP goal at 26:45. At the end of the period the pass from Alexander Ryazantsev was stopped by Petri Vehanen who beat it on Andrei Popov whose one-timer tied the game. Russian young star Yevgeny Kuznetsov pulled Traktor ahead with a sharp angle shot early in the third. Last minutes storm from Ak Bars couldn’t change the score. Traktor won twice at home and now have a comfortable lead in the series. Ak Bars will try to change the situation in next two games.
