Tornado wins European Women’s Champions Cup

The Russian club HC Tornado Moscow Region won all three games of the final tournament of the European Women’s Champions Cup.

 
 
 
 
HC Tornado beat ZSC Lions Zürich, ESC Planegg and HPK Hämeenlinna to win the final tournament of the 2012 European Women’s Champions Cup in Hämeenlinna.

Zürich of Switzerland was beaten 2-1 in the first game. The German team Planegg suffered a 9-1 loss to the Russians in the second round. Tornado secured the cup win with a 5-1 against the Finnish host HPK.

Tornado's Swedish forward Danijela Rundqvist won the scoring title with one goal and six assists.

ZSC's Finnish goalie Anna Vanhatalo was named Best Goalkeeper. The Best Defenseman award was won by Inna Dyubanok of Tornado. Tornado's Melissa Jaques was the best forward of the tournament according to the directorate.
