Ahonen stops Avangard

In a lonely KHL game on Sunday Metallurg Mg beats Avangard 2-1 at home ice.
Metallurg Magnitogorsk 2-1 Avangard OmskAvangard and Metallurg Mg both lost their last game to Yugra with the same score - 3-2 - and now they faced each other. Avangard played in the first period more aggressive and outshot Metallurg 11-4. Georgy Pujacs' shot was blocked by defenseman Lasse Kukkonen in power-play but on the rebound Cervenka was the first and opened the scoring at 15:54. Soon Avangard could extend the lead but Ahonen stopped Igor Volkov's lob shot.
In the second Sergei Fedorov began an attack; passed to Tomas Rolinek who fed up a nice pass to Juhamatti Aaltonen; Aaltonen scored his 18th goal of the season by beating Karri Rämö in front of the net at 28:56.
The game was closed early in the third when Anton But with a nice wrist shot scored a goal. Avangard head coach Raimo Summanen after this goal decided to change goalie and Alexei Kuznetsov ended the game. Ari Ahonen stopped 35 shots and led his team to another important victory.
