The two bonus rounds in the Finnish SM-Liiga to be played in late January have been decided. The worst team in the league, TPS, chose first and selected Ilves for the two extra games. Local Helsinki rivals HIFK and Jokerit will face each other. The rest of the match-ups: SaiPa-Tappara, Pelicans-KalPa, Kärpät-Blues, Lukko-Ässät and HPK-JYP.

Andrei Stepanov scored 4 goals today when his Yunost Minsk beat Mogilev 10-3 in the Belarusian league. Stepanov leads the league in scoring with 25 goals and 20 assists in 35 games. Yunost leads the league 10 points ahead of Neman Grodno.

KHL started again today with the game Spartak-CSKA after an 8-day-break for Channel One Cup (EHT). Spartak won 3-0 with Dominik Hasek in the net.

After a fight in last Monday's match between Linköping HC and MODO Hockey, Michael Holmqvist and Anton Hedman have now received their punishments from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's disciplinary committee. Both get a two-match ban and Hedman is also fined.

Slovenia won 3-0 against Austria to finish the home tournament (EIHC) with three wins in as many games. Hungary beat Norway 2-1.
In Kyiv Ukraine lost 7-4 to Kazakhstan and Poland beat Romania 3-1.

The Elitserien clubs say definitely no to a re-launch of the Champions Hockey League.The International Ice Hockey Federation wants to make another try with the Champions Hockey League with the best European club teams, but at a board meeting on Friday Hockeyligan decided to say thanks but no thanks, to the invitation.
The reason is that the clubs of Elitserien consider IIHF's move to be a direct response to their plans for a multinational European League.

With one round remaining of the WJC Div I Latvia and Belarus both have 4 wins. The winner of the game between the two will win the group. Belarus barely beat Great Britain today 2-1. Latvia won 1-0 against Italy and Japan won an important 6-0 win against Ukraine.

Denmark beat Lithuania 9-1 and secured the group win of the World Juniors Div I. In the other game today Slovenia beat Austria 3-2.

In Tallinn Belgium beat Netherlands 6-5 (SO), France beat Iceland 9-3 and hosts Estonia lost 4-3 to Spain. France or The Netherlands will win the group.
Poland beat Australia 14-0 and Hungary beat South Korea 8-3 in Miercurea Ciuc. One of them will win the group. The third game of the day was Romania-China 6-3.

In the EIHC tournament in Kyiv, Ukraine the home team beat Romania 8-0. Kazakhstan won 3-1 against Poland.
In Jesenice, Slovenia Norway beat Austria 5-2 and Slovenia defeated Hungary 1-0.

Latvia and Belarus won their third straight games in the World Juniors Division IA. Latvia beat Japan 2-1 and Belarus beat Italy 4-2. Great Britain are third after a 5-1 victory against Ukraine.

The Division II of the World Juniors continued today with six games. In Group A France and Netherlands have 9 points after 3 games. In the B group Poland and Hungary are still undefeated.

Last week his jersey number was retired by the Vancouver Canucks, today Markus Näslund was assigned General Manager of his former club MoDo Hockey. MoDo who have had a bad start to the season has signed Näslund until the end of the 2013/2014 season.
