Sary Arka Karaganda applied to join KHL in 2012

Today governor of Karaganda region Serik Akhmetov officially launched the procedure to apply in the KHL next year, having signed the necessary documents.
A special commission from KHL will be in Karaganda next february to check the possibility of the club to join the KHL.
"Inspectors will assess the city's infrastructure, airports, hotels, team structure and so on. We will also provide all necessary financial guarantees" said the general manager of the club Karaganda Nikolai Babenko.
"The idea was discussing since last year, but we didn't have an arena, which would correspond to the level requested in KHL. The new ice palace opened on last November 21 fulfills all the requirements of the league. There are still some bugs, but they will be completely eliminated, "- said the manager.
Site shaiba.kz reported if the club will enter in KHL, most likely will play under a different name.
