Sweden had lost the first two games of the tournament and needed a win to save the honor. Finland lost the chance to win the tournament when Russia beat Czech Republic earlier today.

Jarkko Immonen gave the home team the lead at 5:14 but Nicklas Danielsson tied it for Sweden in the 19th minute.

Martin Thörnberg scored twice in the second period and Christian Bäckman once when Sweden got a 4-1 lead.

Sami Vatanen made it 2-4 at 39:15.

In the third period Finland outshot Sweden 20-4 but only managed to score once. Leo Komarov beat Sweden's young goalie Johan Gustafsson at 48:58.

Gustafsson made 35 saves to win the game.

Swedish coach Pär Mårts was satisfied with his goalie: "He played mature and there was nothing he could do about the goals. He made a couple of huge saves at the end."
