03 Oct 2011 | Eurohockey.com

For the first time this season it is time for our monthly award European Player of the Month. In a vote you help your favourite of our of seven candidates to win the award. The nominees are Frederik Andersen, Vadim Shipachev, Scott King, Julien Sprunger, Anthony Guttig, Rene Swette and Tomas Zaborsky.

Who has been the most outstanding player in European hockey in September 2011? Pick your winner of these seven candidates in our Facebook vote.

1) Frederik Andersen, Frölunda, Elitserien
Frölunda's goalie is the main reason why Frölunda leads Elitserien. In September he got 5 wins in 5 games. 2 shutouts and only 3 allowed goals.

2) Vadim Shipachev, Severstal, KHL
Schipachev scored 5 goals and 5 assists in only 5 games. A +6 rating (2nd in the league) and 2 game-winning goals gives him a great September record.

3) Scott King, Hannover, DEL
king scored goals 4 games in a row, including 2 game-winners.
His September stats: 5 GP, 4G+2A, 18 PIM, +2

4) Julien Sprunger, Fribourg-Gottéron, NLA
Sprunger scored 10 goals in 10 games (0 assists). That is more than a third of his team's goals (29).

5) Anthony Guttig, Dijon HC Les Ducs, Ligue Magnus
Guttig started the French season with impressive 7+1 points in 2 games!

6) Rene Swette, Klagenfurt, EBEL

He was supposed to be number two goalie this season, but after an injury to Andy Chiodo, he has stepped up and currently has over 95% save percentage, leading the EBEL goalie stats. One of the reasons Klagenfurt sits top of the league.

7) Tomas Zaborsky, Ässät Pori, SM-Liiga
He has now scored 7 goals in 8 games and is the leading goal scorer in Sm-liiga. Zabo has scored a goal in 5 consecutive games and has had a very big influence to Ässät's current 3rd place in the league. With his goals Ässät has won 5 games in a row (3 of them away).
