Hours after postponing games indefinitely, the KHL has announced that Monday, September 12 will be the date that the regular season begins.

 
 
 
 
On its website, the KHL stated: "With respect to the organization and conduct of mourning for the victims of the tragedy, the 2011-12 Kontinental Hockey League season will start on September 12."

Matches scheduled between Thursday and Sunday will be re-scheduled. No announcement has yet been made regarding Lokomotiv Yaroslavl's participation.
